One Week One Comic: War of the Realms #1

Alex: Every Wednesday on Twitter, I pick a comics issue that caught my eye and do an illustrated thread of little observations and stuff I enjoyed about it. It’s called #oneweekonecomic, and I’m collating each thread into its own blog post.

This week, it’s Jason Aaron/Russell Dauterman/Matt Wilson’s WAR OF THE REALMS #1. This is Marvel’s big crossover event, and Tim has been documenting his readthrough of Aaron’s Thor run on this very blog. So the two of us teamed up to tackle this issue a page at a time.

Spoilers relatively light, and our commentary cuts off before the final reveals, but the page-by-page nature mean you should be able to safely duck out if things start to get too spicy at any point.

One Week One Comic: The Wicked + The Divine #42

Alex: Every Wednesday on Twitter, I pick a comics issue that caught my eye and do an illustrated thread of little observations and stuff I enjoyed about it. It’s called #oneweekonecomic, and I’m collating each thread into its own blog post.

Except this week, I broke the rules. My pick is Kieron Gillen/Jamie McKelvie/Matt Wilson/Clayton Cowles’ THE WICKED + THE DIVINE #42, and the stuff I want to talk about is so spoilerific I can’t risk it wandering into someone’s timeline by accident. So we’re jumping straight to the blog post.

(I’ve actually got so much to say about this issue, I’ve already written a blog post about it over on TWATD. Why not double your pleasure and get it open in a tab now?)

Yeah, particularly hardcore spoilers follow beneath the cut.

One Week One Comic (Bonus Post): Runaways

Alex: Today we’ve been running the assorted One Week One Comic threads I’ve been tweeting over the past month. For the sake of completeness, though, here’s a post adapting the thread that started it all – not on a single issue, but the first two trades of Rainbow Rowell/Kris Anka/Matt Wilson/Joe Caramagna’s RUNAWAYS.

Spoilers up to issue #12 after the cut.

One Week One Comic: Peter Cannon: Thunderbolt #1

Alex: So, over the past month, I’ve started playing with something new on Twitter. Each week, I pick a comics issue that caught my eye and do an illustrated thread of little observations and stuff I enjoyed about it. There are a lot of problems with Twitter as a platform, though, so I thought I’d try collating those thoughts into blog posts. This is all very much in the experimental stages, so let us know what you think.

This time out, it’s Kieron Gillen/Caspar Wijngaard/Mary Safro/Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou’s PETER CANNON: THUNDERBOLT #1. Spoilers follow after the cut. In the case of this particular comic, pretty enormous spoilers.
